Deutsche Bahn and train supplier Siemens have successfully concluded negotiations relating to the purchase of ICx trains. On 21 April the Management Board of DB AG approved the framework contract at an extraordinary meeting, thereby paving the way for the largest single investment in the history of DB. The deal between DB and Siemens could follow within two weeks. This contract foresees German Rail acquiring up to 300 ICx trains.

DB CEO Dr Rüdiger Grube underlined that the ICx trains would become the backbone of DB’s long-distance fleet and that major impetus is currently being given to initiatives to improve quality and passenger service.

The first batch of ICx trains is due to enter service from December 2016
