According to a press release issued by the airline, Hartmut Mehdorn, former Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Bahn AG and former UIC Vice-Chairman and Chairman of UIC Europe, has been appointed interim President and CEO of the German airline Air Berlin from 1 September (he has been a board member of Air Berlin since July 2009).
