Allianz pro Schiene, the German rail association that aims to increase the market share of the railways both for passenger transport and freight transport, has chosen Leipzig Central Station as the best large-city station and Halberstadt Station as the most customer-friendly small-town station.

Leipzig Central station convinced travellers and the jury with its masterful architecture that integrates a modern two-story shopping mall in the historic building. The largest terminal station in Europe is also designed in a clear and accessible way. The pleasant ambience and the numerous shopping and dining offers are very popular among travellers.

Halberstadt in Saxony-Anhalt, which opened a year ago after extensive modernisation, fascinated the jury with its pleasant atmosphere. The harmoniously designed interior has everything the traveller needs: mobility centre with DB travel centre and tourist information and its appealing forecourt.
