UIC and the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE) together with the CleanER-D consortium will jointly host the CleanER-D mid-term conference “The prototype and the way ahead” in Brussels on 6 October 2011.
Clean European Rail-Diesel (CleanER-D) is a collaborative rail research project partly funded by the European Commission that aims to develop, improve and integrate emissions reduction technologies for diesel locomotives and rail vehicles. Furthermore, it uses innovative methods and hybrid solutions for the best possible contribution to reductions in CO2 emissions.
The public event in Brussels will provide a broad overview of the project’s intermediate achievements to a larger audience and the original expectations of the sector. An overview of the project’s status will be presented as well as a comprehensive insight by the consortium partners into the work that has been performed within this rail research project.
The main focus will be on the CleanER-D vehicle developments, sustainability, and hybrid and future diesel technologies. The day will conclude with an outlook on the next steps of CleanER-D.
