All responsible parties involved in the deployment of ETCS and GSM-R will
meet on 24-26 April 2012 in Stockholm at the 10th UIC ERTMS World Conference.
This world conference with the theme “ERTMS - Global Dimensions” will focus on ERTMS deployment in Europe and beyond and will reveal the new ERTMS Regional application in Sweden.
This leading world conference is jointly organised by UIC, Swedish transport administration Trafikverket (responsible for long term planning and development of road, rail, water and air transport in Sweden), together with ERA, ERTMS Users Group, the GSM-R Industry Group and the Association of the European Rail Industry (UNIFE).
This leading event dedicated to the deployment of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) brings together all stakeholders involved in the implementation of ETCS (European Train Control System) and GSM-R (Radio Communications System for Railways), railway executives and experts, the supply industry, representatives of public authorities, consultants and a number of leading institutions from across the world.
The UIC ERTMS World Conference provides a unique joint event where industry and users are given the opportunity to take stock of progress, exchange experience on the implementation, and set goals and objectives for future development.
The main theme of this 10th edition will be “ERTMS – Global Dimensions”.
ERTMS, initially a major European project, has become a global signalling standard as it is being embraced by many railways worldwide. The novelty will be the ERTMS Regional application, to enable cost savings on infrastructure of regional lines when trains equipped with ETCS on board will run on these lines equipped with GSM-R.
UIC ERTMS 2012 will start with a ‘live’ ERTMS Regional trip organised by Trafikverket on 24 April in Borlänge.
The conference itself will take place on 25 and 26 April in parallel with the ERTMS Exhibition, bringing together all the main suppliers and partners from the signalling and radiocommunication industry, as well as various related services.
Traditionally, the UIC ERTMS conferences are organised in different European countries to sustain momentum towards meeting ERTMS objectives. The previous conference held in April 2009 in Malaga (Spain) was a great success, bringing together 800 participants from 35 countries and 40 exhibitors from rail, signalling and telecommunications.
More information on the programme and practical information will follow very soon!
