A steering committee was held in Bratislava on 30 November 2011. On behalf of Slovakian Railways (ZSSK) Mr Pavel Kravec welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of the exchange of experience between railway companies with regard to their security issues and experiences, and focused on the balance to be set between individual privacy and collective security.

Among the mains decisions taken by the steering committee:

  • Organisation of the 2012 UIC World Security Congress in Bratislava: 24 – 26 October 2012
  • Creation of a specific working group of the UIC security platform dedicated to metal theft: chaired by SNCF France and vice-chaired by ZSR Slovakia, first meeting on 7 February 2012 Paris, UIC HQ
  • Partnership with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children in order to help railway staff to take appropriate measures when they find unaccompanied children in trains within the Schengen area
