Spain: over 2 million passengers between Madrid and Valencia in the first year of AVE

In its first year of operation, a total of 2.085 million people have travelled on the new the high speed line between Madrid and Valencia. AVE have recorded an average seat occupancy of 63% and a punctuality rate of 98.3%.

AVE’s market share in this journey is 83% compared to air transport. Compared to all modes AVE has replaced 55% of journeys made by plane between the two capitals, as well as 25% and 5% of all journeys made by car and bus respectively.

3.5 million people have travelled on the corridor connecting Madrid, Valencia, Cuenca, Albacete, Alicante and Castellón since its opening and new demand for high speed services is constantly growing.
