The Scientific and Organising Committees of UIC HIGHSPEED, the world congress on High Speed rail to be held in Philadelphia (10-13 July 2012), met on 19 and 20 January in Paris.

The congress programme will consist of two round tables – one on 12 July, the other on 13 July – and five parallel sessions – two on the afternoon of 11 July, and three on 12 July. 165 presentations are expected to be delivered during these parallel sessions. Among them, a number of corridor sessions will be dedicated to the specific analysis of the main high speed line projects around the world.

The possibility for students to take part in this year’s congress has attracted a high number of candidates. The topics proposed by the students are currently being selected.

The next meetings of the two committees will take place in mid-February in the USA.
