Germany: satisfactory results for improving protection against noise in 2011 – 145 million euros invested by the federal government

Deutsche Bahn made substantial progress in 2011 with regard to its policy of improving protection against noise. As Oliver Kraft, Chairman of the management board at DB Netz (DB’s infrastructure branch) pointed out, 2011 was characterised by further progress in protection against noise, with the construction of 55 km of new noise barriers providing noise protection for 2,550 homes.

Taking into account all the innovations introduced to improve protection against noise, a total of 145 million euros has been invested by the federal government as well as 6 million euros by Deutsche Bahn.
