Poland: new CEO at PKP S.A.

On 5 April 2012, Poland’s Minister of Transport announced the appointment of Mr Jakub Karnowski as new PKP President.

Mr Karnowski was previously Chairman of PKO Banks Investment Fund, PKO TFI, a position he held since 2008. He obtained a Ph.D. in economics from the Warsaw School of Economics and an MBA from the University of Minnesota (USA). He is a member of the USA Chartered Financial Analyst Institute.

From 2003 – 2008 he worked at the World Bank Group in Washington (the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development – IBRD, the International Financial Corporation – IFC, the International Development Association – IDA, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency – MIGA) as Deputy Director – Member of the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors.

UIC Director-General Jean-Pierre Loubinoux and the UIC Board of Directors congratulate Mr Karnowski on his recent appointment.
