UIC and CHSRA (California High-Speed Rail Authority) recently became close partners in the field of high speed rail. The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) is a California state agency established pursuant to the California High-Speed Rail Act to develop and implement high-speed intercity rail service, such as the California High-Speed Rail project. CHSRA’s membership of UIC will be effective upon ratification at the next UIC General Assembly, to be held in Philadelphia in July 2012.
The closer link between the two organisations, which stands for a recognition of UIC‘s technical competence, will be a way to boost the development of new projects worldwide, with the support of UIC members that are very experienced in high speed operating services.
Engaging UIC’s international experience within the California High Speed Rail Authority’s programme development can accomplish a number of important objectives. Key to this opportunity is UIC’s broad base of real-world experiences. These services will be organised to support a continuous improvement approach, industry standards and best practices from international experience to fill knowledge and experience gaps in the USA.
UIC will ensure that analysis, conclusion and recommendation made by the actors represent a broad international view of HSR experts and operators.
UIC will bring its expertise to six specific areas:
- Business Plan and Overall Program Strategy
- System and Technical Support
- Procurement Strategy
- Private Investment Strategy
- Data Collection
- And other evaluations as deemed appropriate by CHSRA
