10th meeting of the UIC Regional Assembly for the Middle-East (RAME) to be held in Doha

The 10th meeting of the UIC Regional Assembly for the Middle-East (UIC RAME) is planned to be held on 4 June in Doha, Qatar, at the kind invitation of the Qatar Railway Company (QRC), which was admitted as a new UIC member in December 2011. Prior to this meeting the RAME Assistant Group, which is in charge of preparing discussions and decisions for the CEOs, will be held the previous day on 3 June.

Since its founding in 2007, the UIC Regional Assembly for the Middle-East has been chaired by Mr Süleyman Karaman, President and CEO of Turkish Railways (TCDD). RAME’s 1st Vice Chairman is Mr Ali Abdol Saheb-Mohammadi, Vice Minister for Road and Transportation, President of the Railways of the I.R. of Iran; the 2nd Vice Chairman is Mr George Mokabari, Director-General of Syrian Railways (CFS), and the 3rd Vice Chairman is Mr Hussein Krishan, Director-General of Aqaba Railway (ARC), Jordan. Further UIC RAME members include Saudi Railways Organisation (SRO), Iraq Railways (IRR), Hejaz Railway Syria (CFH), Jordan Hejaz Railway (JHR), Qatar Railway Company (QRC), the National Transport Authority NTA of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), METRA and Niroorail Transport from Iran, and HIZTAS from Turkey.

The UIC Regional Office for the Middle-East is based in Tehran and is managed by Iranian Railways (RAI). Its Director is Mr Abbas Nazari, Director-General for International Affairs at RAI.
