Representatives of ČD and PKP Intercity have signed a memorandum on cooperation. The two sides declared their joint interest in improving transport and services, including their promotion. Based on the memorandum, a joint working group will be established to prepare and coordinate projects.

ČD and PKP Intercity cooperate on the operation of five pairs of international long-distance trains, three daytime and two overnight, connecting the Czech Republic and Poland. These include the Praha, Polonia and Sobieski EuroCity connections. The new draft 2012/2013 timetable foresees an increase in the number of connections by two more pairs of daytime trains.

In the last two decades, the two companies have managed to accelerate the connection between the two capitals significantly. While in 1992 the almost 800-kilometre journey between Prague and Warsaw on the Silesia overnight express train took more than 10 hours, today the Praha EuroCity connection covers the distance approximately two hours faster.
