Eurail Group G.I.E., the organisation dedicated to the marketing and management of the InterRail Pass products, is pleased to announce that several new benefits have been added to the InterRail Italy Pass.
The InterRail card (subsequently replaced by the InterRail Pass) was established at UIC in 1972. The launch of this flagship product on the market marked the international railway association’s 50th anniversary.
InterRail Italy Pass holders are entitled to discounted tickets for the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and the Catacombs of Domitilla. In addition, InterRail Italy Pass holders will also benefit from entering these attractions via dedicated “fast track” access points without having to book in advance.
Trenitalia, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, one of Europe`s leading railway enterprises and one of the main stakeholders of the Eurail Group G.I.E., worked with Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi, the Vatican-related pilgrimage and tour agency, to secure these exclusive benefits for InterRail Italy Pass holders.
Another new InterRail Italy Pass benefit is a 10% discount offered on City Sightseeing Open Buses in Florence, Rome, Naples, Pisa, Verona, Padua, Trieste, Turin, Genoa, Milan and Livorno as the result of an agreement between Trenitalia and City Sightseeing Italy.
With 8,000 trains running on the tracks every day and a rail network that extends over 16,700 km (10,377 miles), of which 1,000 are high speed tracks, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane is dedicated to offering InterRail Italy Pass customers a great experience. The InterRail Italy Pass (a One Country Pass) is available for travel in 1st and 2nd class, offering a choice of three, four, six or eight travel days within a one month period. Please note that the InterRail Italy Pass is not valid in the pass holder’s country of residence, so Italians cannot take advantage of these new benefits. Pass holders need to be aware that, when choosing to travel on high-speed trains, seat reservations are required and at an additional cost (from €3 to €10 for seats in Italy).
