At the invitation of UIR, the Combined Transport Group (GTC) under the Chairmanship of Eric Lambert from CFL MM, held its Executive Committee meeting in Novara, Italy.

The GTC members were welcomed by representatives from Interporto Novara and invited to visit the logistics platform with its warehouses and terminals. Details of the strategic plans for development of the logistics site for the period up to 2015 and 2020 were unveiled thus demonstrating the ambition of Interporto Novara to become an even greater player in the development of international rail traffic.

At the official dinner which took place with the Chairman of Interporto Novara, Maurizio Comoli, the Chairman of UIR, Alessandro Ricci, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Paolo Ravellotti and the Mayor of Novara, Andrea Ballarè, discussions very much focused on the development of rail logistics and on the need for strong integration of the actors of the logistic chain. This was perceived to be one element of success towards giving rail freight an edge on the transport market.

In line with the initiative started with UIR, the GTC confirmed its willingness to welcome as members the actors of the combined transport chain and the possibility for those actors to become part of its structure dedicated to positioning combined transport as the key towards successful logistic solutions.
