West Japan Railway Company (WJRC) and East Japan Railway Company (EJRC) have announced details of the new Shinkansen high-speed train they are jointly developing (named E7 pour JR East and W7 for JR West) for services on the Hokuriku Line between Nagano and Kanazawa. The new train is expected to enter into service in late 2014.
It will comprise 12 coaches and reach a maximum speed of 260 km/h.

As well as introducing “Granclass”, a premium first-class compartment located in the first coach on Kanazawa-bound Shinkansen, the train will also include active suspension for greater passenger comfort. The design fuses a distinctly Japanese theme with a sense of refinement and comfort
