The International Seminar on Optimising Rail Track Investment and Maintenance in Asia-Oceania and Europe, which was held in Seoul, South Korea, from 21 – 22 November 2012, was a great success.

Over 150 delegates from countries such as South Korea, Japan, India, Sweden and other Asian-European countries attended the event, representing the major players involved in rail track issues: railway infrastructure managers, railway operators, rail supply industry, railway research institutes and universities: KRRI, KRNA, KORAIL, RTRI, IR, RDSO, SZDC, Abetong, Chalmers University, UIC, TRAFIKVERKET, etc.

On the first day, after the opening/welcome speeches by Mr Vincent Vu (UIC), Mr Soon-man Hong (KRRI) and Mr Jae-Boong Lee (KICTEP), eight technical presentations were given on INNOTRACK and Rail Track Innovation among UIC Asian members.
On the second day, eight technical presentations were given on Sleeper Design and Sleeper Innovation among UIC Asian members.

Active discussions were held after the presentations on both days.

As a result, the heavy wheel proposed by India is planned for one Asian project.
