UIC participates in the Annual Transportation Research Board Conference on “Economic and Social Impacts of High-Speed Rail Systems” (Washington DC, 13 January 2013)

The Annual Transportation Research Board (TRB) Conference on “Economic and Social Impacts of High-Speed Rail Systems” will be held in Washington DC on 13 January 2013. Two keynotes speeches will be made by Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and by Federal Railroad Administrator Joseph Szabo in the presence of several high-speed rail players from the United States and abroad.

“How to develop the promotion of the economic and social values of the railways?” will be particularly discussed as well as the

  • Current state of high-speed and intercity rail
  • Variety of possible public and private funding sources
  • Unique challenges and opportunities
  • Design and operational integration
  • Benefits of HSR

Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director-General will participate in this conference and will present the status of international High Speed Rail programmes.
