The meeting was attended by members representing SNCF (Gares & Connexions), SNCB, DB AG, NS, FS-RFI and RZD, while TCDD, MOR (China) and Japan Rail Group were represented via their secondees at UIC.

Among the main themes discussed it is worth mentioning:

  • The drafting of a new UIC Leaflet regarding station classification
  • The proposal of a “handbook” to facilitate the governance of large station projects. In this case, governance means “who is to decide what”, in order to then establish “who is to finance what and how and when”, and then to define the business model for any big station
  • Discussion to update UIC Leaflet 413, “Measures to facilitate travel by train”, which defines the main conditions for train and station access as well as signage elements
  • The first discussion about the 4th “Next Station” Conference to be held in Moscow’s Kazansky Station, from 16 – 19 October 2013. This conference will include plenary and parallel sessions, exhibition stands and technical and cultural visits

The meeting was completed with an interesting technical demonstration of station acoustic devices.
