CINERAIL, the International Railway Film Festival, will celebrate its 20th edition in autumn 2013 in Paris. This unique event created in 1990 with the support of a number of major railway partners including UIC, is entirely dedicated to the theme “Railways and Cinema” and has gained prominence across the world among railways, film producers, film directors, in particular thanks to the CINERAIL film competitions and awards.
The objective of CINERAIL is to show an international public in one place a highly attractive selection of films, commercial films, TV documentaries, advertising films, TV spots, films on historic heritage… illustrating the world of railways (trains, stations, railway staff,..).
Over the course of the 19 previous CINERAIL editions, 85 feature-length films, around 2000 short films (fiction, documentaries and corporate films representing a large number of railway companies across the world) have been shown to over 50,000 spectators, including many prominent figures from the world of film and the transport sector.
CINERAIL also provides a platform for international exchanges between professionals (from the railways and public transport companies as well as from the audiovisual and communications sector) on experiences, best practice and effectiveness of audiovisual tools to serve the company’s objectives. During CINERAIL week, two specific days are devoted to presentations of the latest corporate film productions of UIC members or other players connected to the railway world.
