A Cooperation Agreement signed between UIC and the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering

Today an agreement for cooperation was signed between UIC and the State Federal Budget Educational Institution for high professional education Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MGUPS - MIIT).

Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT) is one of the oldest technical universities in Russia created in 1896 and provides engineers for the railway sector as well as for other industries in more than 60 specialties.
MIIT is a leading transport University, a large centre of education, science and culture which has maintained two centuries of traditions and values of Russian Transport education, fundamental and practical science. MIIT implements high modern innovating technologies and principles of management in educational, scientific and cultural activities which allow the development of the transport industry to be sustained. The mission of MIIT is to integrate transport education, science and innovations, and to provide the platform for development and implementation of state education standards, modern training technologies which could match the requirements for Strategy and Program of the development of Unified Transport Complex of Russian Federation.
The Moscow State University of Railway Engineeringand and UIC will basically strengthen cooperation and collaboration in the development of modern transport educational systems and training for international railways community and for the larger good of the society.

The agreement will focus on

  • Designing the training courses and organising the same for the purpose of enhancing the skills of railway personnel in the region.
  • Providing forums for both public and private sectors to share their experiences as well as expertise in the various aspects of the rail sector.
  • Harmonising national, regional and international issues on transport and related areas.
  • Promoting interoperability and common standards for railways as well as integration with other modes of transport.
  • Addressing issues of environmental concern that would mitigate the detrimental effects of infrastructural development and operation.
  • Undertaking studies in economic, social and technical aspects of rail infrastructure.
  • Organising regional level workshops and practical seminars for dissemination of the work done by UIC relevant for meeting the needs of the regional rail systems.

The document was signed by the Director General of UIC, Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, and by Mr Boris A. Leuvine, Rector of the Moscow State University of Railway Engineering (MIIT).
