The Congress will take place along with technical visits in Vienna from 24 to 26 April 2013.

The World Congress on Rail Training 2013 is organised at the initiative of the UIC Expertise Development Platform, which draws its expertise from the regional Rail Training Centres Networks. Its main purpose is to enhance workforce development through sharing best practice in rail training across the entire industry.

The Second WCRT will be opened by high-level speakers such as Mr Matthias Stadler, Mayor of St. Pölten, Dr Gabriela Fernandes – CEO of St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, Mag. Franz Hammerschmid CEO of ÖBB Infrastructure, Mrs Lynne Milligan, Human Resources Director, Arriva Trains Wales, DB Arriva and Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director-General.

During these two-and-a-half days, participants will have the opportunity to hear about key issues such as non-technical skills, customer service, the role of the universities in railway training, simulation, gaming and new technologies, and the future developments of Rail Training.

On 24 April, participants will have the choice between four different technical visits: ÖBB’s Wörth training centre, the Vienna Main Station building site and Centre of Operations, the Underground Control Centre in Erdberg and Bombardier Transportation’s Vienna plant.
