Following two years of testing, the EuropeTrain project, managed by UIC in collaboration with almost 30 railway companies and several industry partners, and aimed at testing a new type of composite brake block – the “LL” block – which smoothens the wheel surface and significantly reduces noise during train travel, is at the final stage.
UIC, thanks to the involvement of its members and their engineers, is pleased to see the successful completion of this long and complex technical process, involving a two-year programme with over 200,000 km of test runs across a wide range of European countries and in very diverse climatic conditions.
In this context UIC and the Community of European Railways (CER) will be hosting a conference to present the EuropeTrain Final Report that will be held at UIC Headquarters on 28 May 2013 at 6 p.m.
The official presentation of the EuropeTrain Final Report and press conference will be attended by Members of EU Institutions, the European rail operating community of RUs and IMs and the Project Team.
Further information about this Final Report will be published in a forthcoming issue of UIC eNews.
