Deutsche Bahn has acquired the Central and East European business operations from Veolia Transdev. The transaction has been completed and the approvals issued by the competition authorities. The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the purchase price.
DB Arriva, the Deutsche Bahn subsidiary responsible for regional transport services outside Germany, is to assume responsibility within the DB Group for the operations acquired from Veolia Transport Central Europe (VTCE). DB Arriva will thus become the largest international operator of passenger transport services in Central and Eastern Europe and, as a result of the acquisition, will expand its current business in Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The markets in Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia will also be added, bringing the number of countries in which Arriva operates to fifteen.
