On 31 May during the VIII International Rail Business Forum: 1520 Strategic Partnership held in Sochi, the Directorate of Railway Stations, a subsidiary of Russian Railways (RZD) and the company Grandi Stazioni S.p.A. concluded an agreement to develop proposals to improve the business efficiency of Chelyabinsk railway station.
The document was signed by the head of the Directorate of Railway Stations, a subsidiary of RZD, Sergueï Abramov, and the chief executive of the company Grandi Stazioni S.p.A. Fabio Battaggia.
The present agreement is a first step in developing a partnership in the area of technological station monitoring. In accordance with the agreement, proposals will be developed to improve the business efficiency of Chelyabinsk station. Although this would seem to be a new initiative, it has not yet been defined within the scope of addressing design efficiency and use of station space (with undefined service spaces in a single space: crossings, outbuildings, business space, and similarly there is a lack of defined service space which is essential for certain services).
According to the signed document, the task of the Italian consultants – in view of their experience – is to deliver as many simple solutions that could have a positive effect on the business side of things. To do this, they need to consider a design solution for a single service space, a topic on which the Directorate of Railway Stations is currently working.
