It is with great sadness that UIC was informed that Leo Ploeger, born in 1930, President-Director of Dutch Railways (NS) from 1979 – 1992 and the second Chairman of CER (1990 – 1992) after its foundation in 1988, passed away on 16 June in Zeist, the Netherlands.

Leo Ploeger had also been actively involved in setting the direction of UIC’s international cooperation activities as a Member of UIC’s Executive Board and General Assembly.
