Spain: new AVE service between Madrid and Alicante

On 18 June Spain celebrated the launch of AVE high speed services between Madrid and Alicante.

The line will initially run with nine AVE services per day in each direction with an extra journey on Fridays, cutting journey times by 50 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes.
Renfe is using class 100 and 112 AVE trains for the services, which call at Cuenca, Albacete and a new station at Villena.
