Release of ERIM Feasibility Study Results (Paris, UIC, 17 September 2013)

Annual railML® User Conference (Paris, UIC, 18 September 2013)

  • ERIM Feasibility Study Results

The UIC ERIM activity has launched a feasibility study to initiate standards/best practice for railway infrastructure data modelling and data exchange (via railML®, available in open source).
The objective is to substantially improve data re-use and reduce the data treatment costs by allowing, for instance, railways to:

  • Satisfy several EU directives (such as RINF) by converting their national network data only once into standardised (international) format.
  • Use the same standardised network data with ETCS-, maintenance and other contractors.
  • Adopt these standards, if so desired, to the railway’s own use when (re)defining central data repositories and integrated data management.

The results and foreseen roadmap for future will be presented at UIC on 17 September 2013 from 13:00-17:00.

Registration by email to nissi at uic.org

  • Annual railML® User Conference

As the railML® (www.railm.org) data exchange format is part of the foreseen UIC solution to provide ready-to-use standards for international data exchange, the annual railML® User conference will also take place at UIC on the following day, 18 September from 10:00-17:00.

For more information and registration (open from 1 August):
http://www.railml.org//index.php/registration-for-the-next-conference.html

Participation is free of charge, but registration is compulsory, by 14 September 2013 at the latest. These meetings can be attended separately or jointly. They will provide an overview of the current state-of-the-art thinking on how the railway community can achieve standards to improve the international network data exchange.
