The CRC for Rail Innovation offered four past or present research students the opportunity to attend the World Congress on Railway Research in Sydney. The winners were announced at Junction 2013.

The CRC for Rail Innovation places great importance on the development of students and has undertaken the task to graduate 75 research higher degree students during its life, and has already offered full or partial scholarships to 80 students across our seven partner universities. 21 of our students have already graduated, and we look forward to many more completing their research over the coming year.

Attending the World Congress on Railway Research is an opportunity for these students to meet and talk with railway experts from around the world and to learn more about current research in an international context.

Bob Scheuber and Brian Bock, both board members of the CRC, judged the awards on behalf of the CRC. Students were asked to answer two questions: What benefits do you see for the railway industry in undertaking collaborative research; and how will the railway industry benefit from your attendance at WCRR 2013?
