On 30 July 2013, Mr Dalibor Zelený was appointed Chairman of the Board and Director General of Czech Railways (České dráhy, a.s.).
Dalibor Zelený graduated from the University of Transport in Žilina and has worked in a range of positions in the railway sector. In the 1990s he acted as Deputy Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic; from 1998 to 2003 he held the position of Director General of Czech Railways and implemented its transformation into a joint stock company.
He became the first Chairman of the Board of the newly created entity. From 2006 – 2008 he acted as Director General of the Slovak railway company ŽSR.
He was also active in international institutions, e.g. as UIC Vice-Chairman. Lately he has worked as an independent consultant in rail transport for several private and state-owned companies and organisations in both the Czech Republic and EU member states.
Among the number of positions he has held in the past, Mr Zelený has been Director-General of Czech Railways and Chairman of the UIC East-West Task Force. UIC warmly congratulates him on his new appointment.
