Following several railway accidents in the last few weeks, the media is focusing closely on safety in the railways.

On the recommendation of Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General, and with the confirmation of the UIC Safety Platform Chairman, Peter Kleinschuster, UIC will organise an extraordinary Safety Platform Steering Group meeting on 29 August at UIC HQ with the chief aim of discussing an approach for defining a common UIC communications strategy for the public on railway safety performance.
