The 4th international conference on railway stations, organised by UIC and Russian Railways (RZD) under the high patronage of the European Investment Bank (EIB), will bring together the main stakeholders involved in the development and operation of railway stations

NEXT STATION, the only international conference dedicated exclusively to the development and operation of railway stations across the world, will hold its fourth edition on 17 and 18 October 2013 in Moscow’s Kazan station.

NEXT STATION is being organised by UIC and Russian Railways (RZD) under the high patronage of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and with the support of a number of partners from the institutional and economic world.

The theme of this NEXT STATION’s 4th edition is “Railway Stations – Linking Railways and Society”. The conference will be rolled out into various sessions and round tables featuring CEOs of railway companies, managers of station units and subsidiaries, heads of international institutions (such as the EIB), architects and urban planners, and economic partners involved in the development and operation of stations, etc.

All decision-makers involved in rail transport for passengers and quality of service, the design and operation of stations, multimodality, and city planning in regions throughout the world, will meet on 17 and 18 October in Moscow. The NEXT STATION event will offer them an unparalleled source of information and best practice on:

  • Station governance and financing: a new approach
  • Businesses and services
  • Innovations
  • Station design around the world
  • Multimodality
  • Integrated protection of stations
  • Sustainable stations
  • Connecting stations with the city, etc

These themes will be further expanded by 60 speakers from 15 countries, and discussed during the eight parallel sessions.

Kazan station in Moscow will also host a trade fair for all railway stakeholders and partners of railway companies in the area of railway stations.

A programme of technical visits to three stations in Moscow’s city centre has also been proposed by Russian Railways.
