The CNIT Conference Centre in Paris-La Défense will be the stage of the major European Conference on surface transport research, the 5th TRA – Transport Research Arena 2014.

The TRA is supported by the European Commission, the Conference of European Road Directors, and the three European Transport Technology Platforms including ERRAC – the European Rail Research Advisory Council – and is hosted by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy and IFSTTAR. UIC is involved in the organisation of the TRA and will be present with its own exhibition stand, displaying its work in the field of rail research. It will also be represented at the ERRAC exhibition stand.

The conference will take place from 14 – 17 April 2014, hosted together with other transport events. There will also be a unique exhibition common to all joint transport conferences being held. The theme of the 5th TRA will be Transport Solutions: from Research to Deployment – Innovate Mobility, Mobilise Innovation!

The conference topics address the main challenges in transport and mobility of people and goods, with respect to energy, environment, safety and security and economy issues. TRA aims to explore the most advanced research work and innovations, the latest technological and industrial developments and implementations, and innovative policies in Europe and worldwide. As a wide and open forum open to all interested parties, it is a unique occasion to promote and improve European competitiveness and efficiency in transportation. There are many presentations as well as dedicated sessions on rail and rail research and innovation.

TRA 2014 will be the first major event where the European Commission’s “Horizon 2020” research and innovation programme will be discussed in depth, as the programme is due to be launched at the beginning of 2014. The TRA is the place to be for all colleagues interested in rail research, development and innovation and the role of rail within the European surface transport system.

NB: the Early Bird rate expires on 1 February 2014.
