This global UIC ERTMS conference will focus on the theme “ERTMS – Optimising Rail Investments Worldwide – All main players of ERTMS, ETCS and GSM-R deployment will be present as speakers, sponsors or exhibitors of this global conference – Technical visits organised by Turkish State Railways (TCDD) will be dedicated to the latest railway achievements in Istanbul in connection with the Marmaray Project
The 11th edition of the UIC ERTMS World conference, following a successful edition in 2012 in Stockholm, will take place from 1 – 3 April 2014 at the Halic Convention Centre (HCC) on the Golden Horn of Istanbul on the bank of the Bosphorus. The global conference is jointly organised by UIC and Turkish State Railways (TCDD) under the High Patronage of the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of the Turkish Republic.
This global UIC event has become a worldwide reference and attracts all players and decision-makers involved in the development, financing and deployment of the standard rail traffic management system ERTMS and its components ETCS, unified train control system, as well as GSM-R, the radio communications system dedicated to railways. The main theme of the 2014 global conference is “ERTMS – Optimising Rail Investments Worldwide”. Sessions will focus on the following issues:
- ERTMS: user requirements
- State-of-the-art – the target situation
- ERTMS: supplier experience
- Reducing costs: return of experience and future perspectives
- ERTMS implementation strategies
- Technological progress of ERTMS
Welcome and keynote addresses will be given by Mr Lütfi Elvan, the newly-appointed Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications in the Government of Turkey, Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director-General of UIC, Mr Süleyman Karaman, Director-General of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and Chairman of the UIC Region Middle-East, Mr Karel Vinck, European Commission Coordinator for ERTMS, Mr Marcel Verslype, Executive Director of the European Railway Agency (ERA), Mr Philippe Citroën, General-Director of UNIFE, Mr Libor Lochman, Executive Director of CER, Mr Kari Kapsch, CEO of Kapsch CarrierCom, representing the GSM-R Industry Group.
On 1 April 2014, Turkish State Railways (TCDD) will offer delegates a programme of technical visits centred on the latest achievements of the Marmaray Project (the Euro-Asian Rail Link under the Bosphorus, the new traffic control centre, the construction of new stations – Üsküdar and Yenikapi – connected with the Marmaray Project, etc.).
All major companies and railway suppliers involved in the development and deployment of ERTMS (traffic management system), ETCS (train control system) and GSM-R (radio communications system) will be present with a high visibility in Istanbul as sponsors or exhibitors.
