This application allows passengers to manage bookings and ticket exchanges for all high speed services, whether for long or middle distances. This initial version will enable visitors to the website www.renfe.com to perform these operations on mobile devices – an indicator that a third of sales will be carried out through the Internet.

Renfe’s new mobile phone ticket was presented at the end of January to Spain’s Minister of Public Works Ana Pastor and Chairman of Renfe Mr Julio Gómez-Pomar.

Integrated into the Renfe.com website, the new application is available for iOS and Android systems. It allows customers to access tickets and subscriptions, select seats, add travel dates to their diary and consult train services. Customers registered on the Renfe.com website have access to 15 different functions with the Renfe Ticket application, including the option of viewing the ticket without being connected to the Internet.
The application meets Renfe’s aim to provide new customers with services that are relevant to the digital age, particularly with the increase in mobile devices and web traffic monitored on the Renfe.com website. In 2013 there was a 95% increase in the number of visits to the website via these devices.

Renfe is continuing to expand its digital presence via the Renfe.com website, where sales of high speed train tickets rose by 36% in 2013 to 15.5 million.
Renfe has implemented privacy and security standards so that customers can make online payments without disclosing any sensitive card data.

The new application follows the one already offered by the company dedicated to local services (Renfe Viajes) with a location-based service, train timetables, personal route planner and information on potential changes to services in the 12 closest urban centres.
