The European Rail Research Advisory Council (ERRAC) will participate in the forthcoming 2014 Transport Research Arena Conference that will take place at Paris La Défense from 14 – 17 April.

The Transport Research Arena is a conference dedicated to surface transport research and is organised by the European Commission, ERRAC, CEDR (Conference of European Directors of Roads), ERTRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council), and the Waterborne Technology Platform. This year the conference will be hosted by the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy and IFSTTAR. ERRAC is pleased to announce that it will have a very active role in the conference programme including the participation of the ERRAC Chairman, Mr Josef Doppelbauer, in the opening ceremony.

The presentation of the new ERRAC Strategic Rail Research and Innovation Agenda (SRRIA) will be amongst the highlights of the conference for the platform. This SRRIA, developed in the framework of the FP7 project FOSTER-RAIL, will state the sector’s high-level objectives for rail research in Europe for the coming decades. In addition, the SHIFT²RAIL Joint Undertaking, the key initiative for rail research in Horizon 2020 will also be presented on the same day. Please join us on Tuesday 15 April for the ERRAC Strategic Session “The role of rail research in Horizon 2020” (SS6 - 16:00 – 17:30 – room Goethe) and the SHIFT²RAIL session (17:30 – 19:30 – room Darwin 3).

On Wednesday, 16 April, ERRAC will host a second strategic session (16:00 – 17:30 – room Darwin 5) on “Rail as an attractive transport mode for the future?” which will be chaired by Christopher Irwin (European Passengers’ Federation).

ERRAC will have a stand in the exhibition hall (Level B, Stand 11) where visitors can learn more about the ongoing work of the platform and meet the key actors of the rail research sector.
