As a non-governmental organisation with consultative status, UIC has been in partnership with UNESCAP since 2000. This cooperation agreement between our two organisations aims to develop railway transport in the Asia-Pacific region from Turkey to Australia by developing the Euro-Asian corridors and by maximising the available expertise resources. This agreement, which coordinates long-term strategies in line with the economic and sustainable interests of common members, and the development and promotion of technical standards, intends to facilitate cross-border movements of goods and people, to improve rail’s competitiveness, tariffs, safety, the development of human resources and technology transfer, etc.
