The 4th meeting of the LANDSEC (LAND transport SECurity) working group, created by DG MOVE of the European Commission and attended by representatives of Member States and stakeholders, took place in Brussels on 29 April 2014.
Two countries gave presentations:
- Germany: “The crisis management structures and procedures of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructures”, implemented especially to ensure the resilience and continuity of railway transport, in particular freight.
- United Kingdom: “The Risk Audit Matrix (RAM)” of the UK Department of Transport, a method which enables the Department to specify to operators the scope of their responsibility and actions to take with regard to risks and threats.
The rest of the meeting mainly involved presentations on various research projects in the field of transport security.
On behalf of the UIC Security Division:
José Pires reminded participants of the ongoing work with the UIC Passenger Department to prepare a high speed security handbook.
Jacques Colliard pointed out that UIC was involved in certain research projects and gave a reminder of the important dates in this regard:

Project Coordinator: Ansaldo STS. UIC is particularly involved in disseminating the results.

The next meeting is scheduled for 16 September 2014; a specific meeting on metal theft will be held immediately beforehand or afterwards. The “metal theft” working group of the UIC Security Platform (chaired by Deutsche Bahn) will present the action taken to date and the partnerships being developed.
