As one of the major UIC events of 2015, UIC HIGHSPEED 2015, the 9th World Congress on High Speed Rail, is being coordinated by UIC and East Japan Railway Company. This World Congress is organised in collaboration with all parties involved in high speed rail in Japan, and more generally with all UIC Member railways. The congress will be held on 7 – 9 July 2015 in Tokyo under the theme “Celebrate the Past, Design the future”.

Apart from the main theme, special focus will be set on five main streams: technology, infrastructure, customers, management, culture and society.

High Speed is still experiencing development around the world. Nowadays there are nearly 23,000 km of lines operating in the world. In 20 years, this figure will increase two-fold. This means a significant challenge from an industrial, technological, financial point of view.

The congress will be organised around three main blocks: sessions, exhibition and technical visits. The parallel sessions will deal with different topics, all related to High Speed during the past 50 years and the next 50 years.
