Travelling with children on Deutsche Bahn’s IC or ICE trains can be pleasant and stress-free if the various services on offer to families are applied and requested by customers.
According to Berthold Huber, Chairman of the Board of DB Fernverkehr (DB Long distance Passenger Traffic), “the train is the optimal choice of transport for families. By offering more entertainment and enjoyment onboard our trains, we wish to spark enthusiasm for train travel among children, both at pre-school level and beyond. At the same time, parents who choose rail transport are contributing to greater awareness for greener travel.”
Within Germany, those wishing to travel with children can benefit from particularly advantageous conditions: prices for two people travelling together one-way start at €49 in Second Class.
Children aged under 6 always travel free of charge. Children or grandchildren aged under 15 travel free of charge when accompanying their parents or grandparents, provided they are stated on the ticket at the time of purchase. Children aged between 6 and 14 travelling on their own are entitled to a discount of 50%.
