Italy: Maurizio Gentile succeeds Michele Elia as the CEO of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, the Italian rail infrastructure manager

Mr Maurizio Gentile, who was Director of the ‘Direzione Produzione’ of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), was appointed Amministratore-Delegato (CEO) of RFI (Gruppo FS Italiane) on 24 July by the assembly of the company’s shareholders.
He succeeds Mr Michele Elia as the head of RFI who was recently appointed new CEO of Italian Railways FS Italiane.

Mr Maurizio Gentile, born in 1955, graduated in Civil Hydraulic Engineering in Rome. He was among other activities in charge of civil and hydraulic structures at the company ICEC Group di Roma (1981 – 1982) before joining Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) in 1982. In recent years he was Head of the Office of Civil Works of Florence and Bologna (1995 – 1999), Technical Manager of the FS Region of Bologna (1999), Head of the Regional Direction Infrastructure of Bologna (1999 – 2007), Director of the “Direzione Manutenzione’ (2007 – 2009) and then of the “Direzione Produeione” (2009 – 2014).

Mr Gentile is also Chairman and CEO of the societa Tunnel Ferroviario del Brennero SpA, member of the board of management of Grandi Staeioni SpA and of Lyon Turin Ferroviaire LTF.
