Frecciarossa 1000 train set, the 400 km/hour European super train revealed at Innotrans in Berlin

The Frecciarossa 1000 high speed train set, the 400 km/hour super fast train of Italian Railways FS Italiane, was presented for the first time at the Berlin Innotrans 2014 International Trade Fair. The Frecciarossa 1000 will come into service next year on the Italian high speed network.

Guests were welcomed into the Frecciarossa 1000 area by the Top Management of Italian FS, the Group CEO Michele Mario Elia, Vincenzo Soprano, Trenitalia CEO and Maurizio Gentile, CEO of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana RFI. The ceremony was attended by Lutz Bertling President and CCO of Bombardier Transportation, and two manufacturers, Maurizio Manfellotto AnsaldoBreda CEO and Luigi Corradi, CEO of Bombardier Transportation Italy.

The Frecciarossa 1000 arrived in Berlin composed of four coaches, while the commercial train will be composed of eight coaches. The consist on display allowed visitors to discover the interior of the super train and enjoy the comfort and the elegance of the equipment that will characterise the Premium, Business and Executive service levels, in addition to the bistro coach – a novelty of the Frecciarossa 1000. The final configuration will also include the Standard level.

The Frecciarossa 1000 is the emblem of Italian technological and stylistic excellence, with each of its qualities of the highest standard. Fast, comfortable, environmentally-friendly, the Frecciarossa 1000 is fully interoperable, able to travel on all high-speed lines of the European Union and to increasingly shorten the distances in Italy and in Europe.
