UIC participates in the 2014 edition of Mercintreno, the forum dedicated to railway transport held on 30 September in Rome.

Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General, presented the European railway freights projects in the European context FP7 during a session entitled Railway Freight in Europe: opportunities of EU financing for the improvement of performances of infrastructure and services. Taking the floor to develop several aspects, UIC also reminded the audience of the Shif2Rail context.

Among the speakers participating in the Forum were: Maurizio Gentile, Chief Executive, RFI (Italian Infrastructure Manager), Marco Terranova, Chief Executive, SBB Cargo Italia, Irmtraut Tonndorf, President of ERFA, Bernhard Kunz, Director of Hupac.

For UIC this is consistent with efforts to promote client focus, corridors, innovation in new projects where UIC can play a four-dimensional role in the areas of Definition, Development, Demonstration and Dissemination in technical, logistical, operational and IT projects.
