The 12th UIC ERTMS World Conference will be held from 29 February – 2 March 2016 in Brussels at the invitation of INFRABEL, the Belgian railway infrastructure manager.
The kick-off meeting of the Advisory Committee was held in Paris at UIC HQ on 17 November 2014. The meeting was chaired by Hans-Günther Kersten, Director of the UIC Rail System Department and brought together representatives of operating railways, ERTMS suppliers representing UNIFE, the European Railway Agency (ERA), CER, the host railway INFRABEL, as well as representatives of the UIC Rail System and Communications departments.
The 12th UIC ERTMS World Conference, “UIC ERTMS 2016”, following a successful edition jointly organised with Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in April 2014 in Istanbul, is due to take place at “Square – Brussels meeting Centre”, an attractive location in the centre of Brussels city, prized for its position and practicality, situated in the cultural quarter of Brussels in front of the Central Station, with easy access to train connections and accommodation.
The UIC ERTMS Conference Advisory Committee will be mainly tasked with defining the general theme and sub-themes of the conference by taking into account the latest and future developments of the ERTMS deployment (and its components, the ETCS and GSM-R systems) in Europe and across the globe. It will be also in charge of defining the structure of the conference and organizing the sessions, organising a call for papers and selecting speakers, evaluating the proposed contributions, supervising the overall organisation of the conference, and the professional exhibition.
