On 12 December 2014 a meeting was held at UIC headquarters between representatives of the UIC Commuter and Regional Train Services working group (CRTS), operating within the High Speed and Passenger Department, and the General Secretary of UITP (International Association of Public Transport). The purpose of the meeting was to establish a platform of cooperation between these two organisations within the scope of railway commuter and regional transport, given the existence of common topics in both the Commuter and Regional Train Services working group of UIC and the Regional and Suburban Rail Division of UITP.

The participants discussed potential fields of cooperation, particularly focusing on ticketing in agglomerations, timetable integration, passenger information and physical integration at stations. The dialogue will be continued at the beginning of the next year at the UITP headquarters in Brussels between representatives of the UIC Commuter and Regional Train Services working group and the UITP Regional and Suburban Train Division.

The meeting was attended by Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General of UIC, Alain Flausch, General Secretary of UITP, Ignacio Barron de Angoiti, Director of the UIC High Speed and Passenger Department, Bartłomiej Buczek, Chairman of the CRTS working group and Member of the Board of PKP SKM at Tricity Ltd., Luis Casado, Senior Advisor within the UIC High Speed and Passenger Department and Michał Szarmach, International Affairs Advisor at PKP SKM in Tricity Ltd.
