Rail container traffic between China and the EU via Belarus registered a threefold increase in 2014 compared to the previous year, amounting to 40,600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU).
Belarusian Railways transport cargo in container trains from China to a number of European countries, including Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.
In 2014, Belarusian Railways carried 193,100 TEU. Today, 25 fixed-route container trains deliver cargo through Belarus.
Belarusian Railways stay current with global trends for containerisation of freight transport and take an active part in new projects. In March 2014, the new container train from China to Europe was launched in partnership with UTLC Project Office and DHL Global Forwarding.
In May 2014, the container train successfully delivered Chinese products from Wuhan, China to Pardubice, Czech Republic, while in June, a container train was launched to deliver Hyundai vehicle sets from the Czech Republic to Kostanay, Kazakhstan.
