Mr Dan M. Costescu was appointed Director General of the National Railway Company CFR SA (the railway infrastructure manager company in Romania), following the private manager selection process carried out in accordance with the legal provisions on corporate governance of public enterprises.
On 2 March 2015, Mr Dan M. Costescu (46 years old) took over the executive management of CNCF CFR SA, the national company managing and operating the public railway infrastructure.
His work experience, gained during the over 20-year-long activity in fields such as management, railway business development, project management and implementation, railway consultancy, research or academic, has enabled him to hold important positions in private or state-owned companies in Romania and Europe, in areas such as railway industry or operation.
He was responsible – individually or within complex teams – for procurement, restructuring, market repositioning or integration strategies within entities such as: Romvag S.A (Romania), Karsdorfer Eisenbahn – KEG (Germany), the Romanian Railway Authority (AFER).
He founded, developed and managed railway engineering companies, and we mention here Forschung Mess – und Daten-Technik Zentrum (Germany) and Sistematic Engineering (Romania), and he also represented the Romanian Railways in bodies of the European Railway Research Institute – ERRI.
