UIC Chairman and President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin, and Director General of UIC, Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, recently participated in a series of events in Prague and Moscow

TransRussia Exhibition – 21 April 2015, Moscow

TransRussia is the largest transport exhibition in Russia, where industry leaders from 29 countries present their services and new technologies to solve transport and logistics tasks at various levels.

The opening ceremony was attended by:

  • Deputy Head of the President of the Russian Federation Andrey Nedosekov
  • Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Nikolay A. Asaul
  • Secretary-General of the Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation Gennady I. Bessonov
  • First Vice-President of JSC Russian Railways Vadim Morozov

The participants were representatives of transport authorities of Russia, European countries, the largest international and Russian transport companies, ports, large cargo, insurance companies and banks.

The conference was attended by over 300 delegates – heads of major Russian and foreign companies of the transport market.

In the framework of the TransRussia Exhibition and Conference “TransRussia 2015” (Moscow, “Crocus Expo”), a round table of the Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation was held under the theme “Transsiberian transport corridors: the development of Transit Euro-Asian communication”.

The Director General of UIC Jean-Pierre Loubinoux participated in this event with a welcoming speech indicating the key issues in developing the Euroasian link and ways to improve the attractiveness of transit and prospects of creating conditions for transit transport of a wide range of goods using the Trans-Siberian Railway. In particular, to consider increasing the competitiveness of tools such as the synchronisation of links in the supply chain by reducing the time of delivery, simplifying organisational processes, rationalising logistics.
The Asia-Pacific region, attracting new high-volume goods on the Trans-Siberian route, as well as the experience and perspectives of the organisation of circular routes of the rail transport of goods data using the Trans-Siberian were also subjects of discussion among the participants.

Meeting between UIC and FPC (Federal Passenger Company)

During his visit to the TransRussia Exhibition, Mr Loubinoux received a very warm welcome from the Director General of FPC (Federal Passenger Company) Mr Akulov. They discussed the ongoing UIC projects and FPC involvement such as “Train to Paris” and agreed on number of actions to be taken to contribute to the success of this project.

Mr Loubinoux expressed the concern and support of the FPC seminar to be held in St. Petersburg from 25 – 26 May 2015 on “Organisation of work for the sale of travel documents in terms of development of new sales techniques” (IITS) and confirmed his personal participation and UIC involvement to invite members to this event.

This seminar is a platform for railways to hold open discussions on the integration of rail transport in the world transport system using the innovative technologies.

Platforms such as these can facilitate the exchange of experience, opinions and decisions with regard to the implementation of innovations presented by railways, international organisations such as UIC and OSJD, as well as IT companies.
