On Friday 24 April 2015, Guillaume Pepy, President of the Management Board of SNCF and President of SNCF Mobility, inaugurated the new maintenance workshop in Rennes, dedicated to the maintenance and repair of rolling stock braking systems.

This new 20,000 square metre industrial facility, whose construction began in 2013 and was completed after 15 months, will optimise the production of components for various business activities. The workshop is located a few kilometres from the city of Rennes, in the new urban development zone in the commune of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, and its state-of-the-art premises hold up to 450 SNCF staff members, specialised in the repair of rolling stock parts (120,000 parts repaired each year).

This new facility will optimise the production of parts used for TGV, TER, Transilien and Freight, and will help SNCF to gain a stronger market position among other urban operators (metro, tram, etc.).

This facility, built in accordance with HEQ (High Environmental Quality) Standards, has been fully operational since mid-March, and will help to significantly reduce energy consumption.

The initial design of the new production system and workspaces was developed with input from SNCF staff members. The result is a modern facility which improves working conditions and increases efficiency.

The Rennes maintenance workshop represents an investment of 25 million euros.
