The 2015 annual meeting of European CEOs was held from 16 – 17 July in Lisbon. This meeting was attended by Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways (RZD) and Chairman of UIC, José Viegas, Secretary-General of the International Transport Forum at the OECD, and Libor Lochman, Executive Director of CER.

Thanks to the remarkable hospitality of the Portuguese hosts, discussions of a strategic, positive and consensual nature were able to take place, which included some very fruitful exchanges between the various participants.

Among the various topics discussed, emphasis was placed on the importance of the role of railways at international level, as well as the need to speed up certain technological changes.

During this conference, UIC Director General Jean-Pierre Loubinoux had the opportunity to provide further details on various points and to deliver a presentation on the global outlook of the railways as it presents itself today, through a vision of how UIC can contribute on an international level.
